Event Times

NOTE: Due to a possible lack of access to set up course Saturday night, we may need to either forgo course walks (parade laps only) or start later. An update regarding this will be posted by Thursday night.

Gates open: 5:30 am
Registration Check-In/Tech Inspection: 6:30 – 7:30 (Arrive earlier!)
Course walk: 7-8
Drivers Meeting: 8-8:15
Run Groups: 8:30-TBD

1) Limited Entry and Fall Series:
This is part of the Fall series. 120 cars max and no time onlies. There will only be 4 run groups of 30 cars/group. Plan is to have 4 runs which is about 1 hr/ group + longer than normal worker changeovers due to length of the track. Total event time is estimated at 5.5 hrs + setup & tear down. If at the end there is sufficient time and resources, fun runs may be offered for a nominal fee (TBD).

** Gates open at 5:30, driver meeting is at 8. This is going to be an early event!

2) Registration and Group Schedule:
We will not be following the std run group schedule that is typically published. To balance each class with workers and drivers alike, run group order will be massaged to fill each of the 4 run groups to allow a safe and balanced event. Please plan your day to be available the entire day (prior to potential fun runs) since your run group will not be known until as late as Sunday morning. This event will cost + $10 / person in addition to the std fall event fee and is on the event details page.

3) Paddock:
Use the normal paddock area which is directly to the left upon entering the FIR entrance booth.

4) Gridding:
We will use 2 grid areas. Cars as part of the current run group will be on the main straight of the West track. The next run group will pregrid on Skidpad #4, which will allow quicker changeover and will allow an elevated view of the current run group.

5) Course familiarity:
A slow parade lap will be done after all cars are in the main grid and prior to each run group so each can see the course at eye level. One may be able to walk the course - depending on time available, but due to its length a parade lap will reinforce your knowledge of the course.

6) Novices and run groups:
Novices will run groups B, C, D, and will need to have an experienced instructor to ride with them on their first 1 - 2 runs. Pairing of instructors with novices will occur before the event starts.

7) Bring Water:
It's going to be hot, please bring plenty of water. In addition to your water, we plan to distribute some water jugs out in various worker positions.

8) Event Chairpersons:
Kevin Venisnik and Jay Balducci will be the event chairpersons. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact either one of us so that we can address it. We are looking forward to a safe, fun event on the West track at FIR!

9) Off Course Ruling:
4 wheels off the pavement is DSQ for the day. Two wheels off twice in the run is also DSQ. The first two wheels off requires a conversation with a Safety Steward and retech if there is any concern about car condition. The DSQ does not relieve the driver of their work assignment. Extreme DNF rule remains in effect for cones after the finish.
